Thomas O’Brien


Thomas O’Brien joins the UCHS community after working at Williamsburg Collegiate for the previous five years, most recently holding the position of Dean of Curriculum and Instruction and an Instructional Fellow. As a math teacher, he was recognized nationally as a 2012 Math Hero Award recipient for his use of technology in the classroom. Prior to joining WCCS, Mr. O’Brien began his teaching career as a Teach For America Corps Member teaching middle school math at Crownpoint Middle School in Crownpoint, New Mexico. He also supported fellow teachers by facilitating content specific meetings as the Math Collaborative Leader for Teach For America and he has taught graduate students at the Relay Graduate School of Education. Mr. O’Brien actively engages in educational policy discussions through his work with the America Achieves National Policy Fellowship. Mr. O’Brien holds a B.S. with honors in Economics from the University of Oregon, and a Master’s with distinction in Secondary Education from the University of New Mexico.


Andy Wright

Director of Operations

Andy is excited to be returning to UCHS for his second year, after spending the majority of his career in the nonprofit sector supporting educators across the country. Most recently he served as a Teacher Outreach Manager with, and earlier as an Operations Manager with First Book. Originally hailing from Virginia, Andy holds an MPA from NYU's Wagner School and a BA in Government and Anthropology from Dartmouth College. As Director of Operations, Andy is excited to make student data easier to access for teachers and families, manage our beautiful building, and put systems in place to keep every school day running smoothly.
